Safety Tips For Summer Fun

Summer is officially upon us!

School's is almost out and it's time to visit the pool and fire up the grill. Hopefully you enjoyed a relaxing Memorial Day weekend and are ready for the hot days that follow.

As your insurance agent, I want to remind you of a few important grilling safety tips:
• Check grill hoses for cracking, brittleness, holes and leaks before use.
• Always keep propane gas containers upright and keep gas hoses as far away as possible from hot surfaces and drippings.
• Never keep a filled gas container in a hot car trunk.
• When using barbeque grills on decks or patios, be sure to leave sufficient space from siding and eaves.
• Keep in mind that charcoal produces carbon monoxide gas. Make sure it is only burned outside and in well ventilated areas.

June Home Maintenance Tips
• Exterminate rodents and bugs, inside and out.
• Check for leaky faucets and pipes.
• Change your furnace filter.
• Clear out gutters.
• Wash the exterior walls of your home and garage.
• Examine caulking.
• Don't forget to water and fertilize plants at least twice a week.
• Clean outdoor furniture once a week to once every other week.
• Oil and sharpen all tools and equipment.
• Mow grass once a week or every 10 days.
